Valdaora/Olang: Our Village

Valdaora and Hotel Post Tolderhof - Located in the lush open valley of Upper Val Pusteria/Pustertal Valley, surrounded by the beautiful and bizarre rock formations of the Dolomites, lies the village of Valdaora, at about 1,000 metres a.s.l.

Valdaora is found at the edge of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, near the Dolomiti di Sesto Nature Park, amidst a spectacular landscape in pristine nature. Deep forests, Alpine meadows, and green hills; white peaks, monoliths, and rocks of the Dolomites; the Rieserferner massif with the Collalto glacier and, by contrast, the smooth valley bottom of the Green Val Pusteria/Pustertal Valley – all this and more can be found in the Valdaora environs.

The village itself has approximately 3,100 inhabitants and consists of four districts. Three of them are surrounded by meadows and fields that lend themselves well to spectacular horse riding excursions; only Sorafurcia/Geiselsberg is located on the slopes of Plan de Corones.

In Valdaora, every season has its special attractions and its particular sportive offer. In spring and summer, it is a paradise for hiking and climbing, as well as for cycling and horseback riding up to late autumn, while in winter it turns into a popular skiing area and cross-country hub. And that’s just a few of the many activities that await you in a vacation paradise like Valdaora.

Highlights and sights in Valdaora and Plan de Corones:

  • Monument to Peter Sigmair, in honor of the hero who fought for freedom alongside Andreas Hofers in 1899
  • Parish church in Valdaora di Sotto/Niederolang
  • Peststöck, on the road to Sorafurcia/Geiselberg
  • The Standlschmaus gastronomic event, which takes place every year between July and August
  • "Weinbeben" wine-tasting event in the park
  • Sulfur spring in Bad Bergfell

We have felt very comfortable from the first day at the hotel. The staff was always very friendly.
